Do you guys remember Holiday Barbies? Every year Mattel would release a Holiday Barbie–with fashions of the year and usually extravagant, over-the-top dresses and outfits.
I was actually not a big Barbie fan. But I had a dear relative who loved to give me the special edition, new Holiday Barbie every year. Although I may have been less than thrilled when I was younger (I was a Tom boy), now I appreciate the thought and care that went into getting me the latest, beautiful toy.
The biggest aspect of Barbie’s is you could dress them up in anything–even the things you couldn’t wear. Dress up was definitely a part of any kids childhood (boy or girl) because being a superhero, grown-up, teacher, doctor, power ranger, whatever felt like magically transporting yourself into your own story.
As you grow up, you love to play dress-up but in different ways. Showing your personality as a teenager is very apparent through your clothes (band t-shirts, name brands, styles, etc).
