Throwback Thursday anyone? Finally getting around to blogging Jessica’s maternity session from last year.
Although I’ve known James since my high school days, I had only met Jessica a few times. I initially met her at a few parties and hangouts for us Vegas peeps to reunite, and over time their bond grew until James proposed and they were married. After graduating from college and moving to Orem, I didn’t see them very often. But those few times I spent with James and Jessica were enough of an impact that I knew amazing things were in store for these two.
Little did I know that I would get to drop in on the journey of one of the amazing things: becoming parents for the first time!
Luckily they were still in Provo at that time, and decided to reach out to me towards the end of Jessica’s pregnancy. I was overjoyed to spend time with them again documenting their love and Jessica’s bump before baby arrived!
For their shoot, we took pictures in Downtown Provo. The neutral tans, silvers, and slight hints of blue were just what we wanted to really make Jessica’s adorable belly pop in the beautiful maroon dress she chose.
They even brought along some knitted, pink baby shoes a family member made as a prop. Guys–I WAS DYING OF CUTENESS. Can you blame me honestly?
My favorite part about Downtown Provo is the variety that is all right within a few feet.
I could go from big, glass to a wood wall, to columns, to a solid colored wall all within 5 minutes walk. Perfect for the urban, city vibe but easier on a soon-to-be mama’s feet. Also, very close to many places to eat or drink after.
We had initially planned to hit Downtown Provo and go up to the Rock Canyon Trail, but we got so caught up in the urban settings and ended up staying down in the city. Although I love the amazing scenery of Utah, sometimes the challenge and beauty of the city is just the right backdrop to draw the attention back to the subject: soon to be parents.
James and Jessica have now welcomed their little girl into this world, and I continue to watch these two do amazing things as parents. Their sacrifice, hard work, and determination shine through everything they do and I see a promising future for their family.
